The 200-home development - of which 45 per cent would be affordable housing - is earmarked for currently inaccessible private land off Whitchurch Road near Christleton.     A man has been jailed again after he admitted dealing drugs from his prison cell. Samuel Watts, of Thornley Green, Northwich, appeared at Burnley Crown Court on Thursday (June 5) where he was sentenced to four years and four months in prison. The 34-year-old had earlier pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine while serving a prison sentence at HMP Kirkham near Preston.

    Police and firefighters are dealing with a fire at a building in Ellesmere Port town centre. The empty former bank building on Whitby Road and the corner of Heathfield Road has been cordoned off. A road closure is also in place on Whitby Road from the Sutton Way junction heading towards the town centre. Five fire engines are at the scene with police cars and a van also in attendance. The building was used as a bank for several years. It was most recently occupied by a theatre group until May 2023.
