A Derbyshire theatre group will present Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing a quarter of a century after its performance of Twelfth Night. High Tor Players have decided to return to the Bard’s work to celebrate its 88th anniversary of entertaining generations of families in Matlock and the surrounding towns and villages. It will be the first time that the company has performed the much-loved romantic comedy Much Ado About Nothing.

Customers will raise their glasses to the reopening of Chesterfield’s oldest pub when its new owners pull the first pints at the start of the long Easter weekend. Meg Hartman and Patrick Hopkins will welcome customers through the door of Ye Royal Oak in The Shambles on Good Friday from 12 noon. The pub has been shut for four years. The owners will be making new memories in the town’s historic timbered pub which has served beer since the 17th century.

Simon Jones, pub operator at The Blue Bell on High Street, Little Eaton, organised an appeal which resulted in donations of 171 Easter eggs and £400.

The Prince of Wales at Baslow, The George in Castleton and The Pack Horse in Hayfield are on the shortlist for a prestigious County Winner title at the National Pub & Bar Awards. The winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on June 24.
