Any child in England whose parents receive Universal Credit will be able to claim free school meals from September 2026, the government has said.     A major road in Doncaster city centre has been sealed off this afternoon with emergency services at the scene. Bennetthorpe has been cordoned off just past the junction with Regent Square leading towards the Earl of Doncaster Hotel. Traffic is being diverted and bus services in the area are also being disrupted. It is also understood that traffic is building up on nearby Thorne Road. We have asked South Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service for further details of this aftenoon’s incident.

    Teachers at schools across Doncaster and Yorkshire are to carry out further strikes in a protest at an academy trust's plans to extend the day for students and teachers by half an hour. The NASUWT teaching union said teachers at a number of schools run by the Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT), including several in Doncaster, were taking part in six days of action. Teachers will walk out on June 10 and 11.
