Editor’s summaryThe transcription factor GATA3 controls the differentiation of naïve innate lymphoid cells and T cells into their type 2 effector subtypes, innate lymphoid 2 cells (ILC2s) and T helper 2 cells (TH2s), respectively, during immune responses. Szeto et al. found that another transcription factor, Mef2d, augmented the expression of GATA3 and the type-2 cytokine interleukin-13. The authors generated a mouse model that resulted in deletion of Mef2d in mature ILC2s specifically.
