Springfield has a new incoming city manager, pending a public hearing and a formal City Council vote. David Cameron, 52, has been tapped for the role, according to a news release. He was selected from a pool of finalists that also comprised Bob Cowell and Brian Weiler, and the three were interviewed last month by Springfield City Council and other city stakeholders.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Inc. may lose millions of dollars' worth of expected state funding through a failed bill, and the nonprofit is calling on a special session in Jefferson City for reconsideration. Officials with the nonprofit said in a news release this morning that House Bill 19, a roughly $500 million construction spending bill making its way through state budgetary proceedings, was rejected by the Missouri House of Representatives on Friday.

Business owner Christa Stephens, whose companies included Inviktus Salon and Black Lab Coffee Co., has died. Stephens, 49, died May 3, according to her obituary posted to Meadors Funeral Home's website. Stephens previously was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer, according to past reporting. Stephens’ husband, Case Howard, said in an interview with Springfield Business Journal this morning that he plans to continue the businesses.
