Vallejo police rescued a toddler hours after she was kidnapped during an alleged carjacking Friday afternoon in Vallejo. Officers responded to a report of a carjacking near Santa Clara and Maine Streets at around 3:38 p.m., according to dispatch audio. The vehicle’s owner sustained minor injuries in the robbery. The suspect, who has not been apprehended, took off in the blue Honda Pilot with the owner’s young child still inside.
Vallejo terminates officer previously arrested for alleged felonies

A Vallejo police officer arrested last year on felony domestic violence-related charges that were soon dropped has been terminated from the agency. Officers received a brief department-wide email Thursday informing them that Ronald Maurice Dupree had been released from the department, sources with knowledge of the matter told Open Vallejo. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss internal personnel matters.
Vallejo shooting leaves 4-year-old in critical condition

A 4-year-old child was critically injured in a shooting in Vallejo’s Crest neighborhood Sunday, the latest in a wave of gun violence since the beginning of the New Year. Vallejo police were conducting an unrelated operation in north Vallejo when the shooting occurred, department spokesperson Sgt. Rashad Hollis said in an interview Monday. At approximately 8:31 p.m., Sgt. Matthew Komoda reported hearing multiple gunshots east of officers’ location, according to dispatch audio.
Coat drive to honor Angel Ramos in need of donations

The family of Angel Ramos is again organizing a coat drive to honor the young man, who was killed by a Vallejo police officer in 2017. Ramos’ family is collecting winter clothing and other goods to distribute at the fourth annual Community Giveback event, scheduled for Jan. 25 in Vallejo. Community members can drop off coats, sweaters, beanies, gloves, scarves, hygiene items, tents, sleeping bags, and similar items at 521 Georgia Street during normal business hours through Jan. 24.

Vallejo crash leaves driver in critical condition, firefighters injured

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday left one driver critically injured after being trapped in his burning car, with another driver and two firefighters suffering minor injuries. The crash occurred arout 8:37 a.m. at the intersection of Curtola Parkway and Solano Avenue, according to the Vallejo Fire Department. A Chevrolet Camaro SS, apparently traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the back of a city of Vallejo maintenance truck before bursting into flames.
Vallejo police arrest suspect in homicide of Damien Davis

Vallejo police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the July fatal shooting of Damien Davis. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Patrick Lamont Thompson last month, court records show. Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, a patrol officer spotted Thompson standing at the corner of Sonoma Boulevard and Ohio Street, according to police.
Grandmother shot, killed in Vallejo Monday

A woman was shot and killed Monday in Vallejo, allegedly by a younger male relative, Open Vallejo has learned. The shooting occurred around 10:50 p.m. in the 300 block of Avian Drive, according to dispatch audio. Vallejo police and fire dispatch began receiving multiple 911 calls from neighbors who reported hearing shots. Then another call came in. Speaking quietly, a young woman reported that her grandmother had been shot by a man involved with her mother, according to dispatch audio.

Three people were shot, one fatally, during a violent weekend that taxed Vallejo’s beleaguered police force and required the assistance of multiple outside agencies. The chaos began late Friday evening with a high-speed pursuit that started near Vallejo City Hall. Officers gave chase after an occupant of a Cadillac CT6 allegedly pointed a green laser at a California Highway Patrol helicopter and a police unit on the ground, according to dispatch audio and Vallejo police.
