Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther will announce a $500 million bond issue during his annual State of the City speech Wednesday evening. Ginther is outlining priorities for the city like affordable housing and combatting domestic violence during a 6 p.m. speech at the Fort Hayes Performing Arts Center. Ginther spoke to WOSU ahead of his speech about these topics and the city shared a draft of his speech.

Ohio State President Ted Carter was at the White House Monday to celebrate the Ohio State Buckeyes' National Championship win over Notre Dame and is expected to have private conversations with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Ohio State University spokesman Ben Johnson is declining to say what Carter is discussing with Trump and Vance, but did say in an email a conversation between the three was likely.

President Donald Trump celebrated the National Champion Ohio State University Buckeyes football team at the White House Monday. The team, Head Coach Ryan Day, Vice President JD Vance and officials from Ohio joined the president to recognize the team's win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in January. Trump walked the crowd through the football season and praised the team and players like quarterback Will Howard, running back TreVeyon Henderson and defensive end Jack Sawyer.

The Franklin County Democratic Party will decide next week whether to endorse in some key city council and school board races, but the chairman says they likely won’t weigh in on a tightly contested three-way race for Columbus City Council District 7. The candidates in that race, Kate Curry-Da-Souza, Tiara Ross and Jesse Vogel are racing through the final month before the May 6 primary.

The Central Ohio Transit Authority's Board of Trustees will vote Monday on hiring a firm to conduct a feasibility study for fare-free bus rides. The board is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. for a board retreat in Westerville to consider hiring the firm Four Nines Technologies Consulting to conduct the study.

Couches were lit on fire near Ohio State's campus after the Buckeye's 34-23 win over Notre Dame. OSU also reports a crowd of over 100 broke into Ohio Stadium. The university reports no injuries or arrests at this time. Have not heard back from Columbus Police yet @wosunews https://t.co/T8AVWx6wtz
