So you might have heard we do things a little differently in the ACT when it comes to our government setup. I won't bore you with the details on what a Hare-Clark system is (and I don't want to embarrass myself by trying to do so correctly). So here's the TLDR. We have five, five-member electorates. And atm Labor makes up government with the help of the Greens. The Greens have six, Labor has 10, and the Liberals have eight (they used to have nine until recently… we will get into that a bit later).

The ACT chief minister says it was a mistake to appoint Walter Sofronoff to head an inquiry into the trial of Bruce Lehrmann. Andrew Barr made the comments during an election debate with Opposition Leader Elizabeth Lee, run by the ACT Property Council. The board of inquiry was assembled to investigate the conduct of police and other parties during the rape trial of Mr Lehrmann, which was aborted due to juror misconduct with no findings against him.

It was a packed house at the National Press Club on Wednesday for the inaugural address by Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commissioner Micaela Cronin. The commissioner handed her report card to the government to see how on track the country is to meet the points of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children, and included suggestions for fine-tuning the elements that need to work better.

Three people have been killed and another injured in a single-vehicle accident near Tarago in the New South Wales Southern Tablelands. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Bungendore and Collector roads about 1:10pm after reports that a car had left the road, rolled and come to rest on its roof. When NSW police and other emergency services arrived at the scene they found a man and two women trapped in the car. All three died at the scene.
