A new exhibit highlighting Wampanoag art opens at the Cotuit Center for the Arts this Saturday. Mashpee Wampanoag Paula Peters co-curated the exhibit, which features more than 20 Wampanoag artists from across the region. The concentrations of chemical contaminants at the Trotting Park youth baseball complex in Falmouth are high enough that the town is legally obligated to clean up the site. That's according to James Luker of Arcadis, an environmental consulting firm hired by the town. Luker spoke to Falmouth residents at a town forum on the baseball fields last week.

After at least one Falmouth resident was taken by immigration authorities last week, a local activist group is trying to spread the word about immigrant rights. Chair of the Falmouth Immigrant Rights Coalition Sandra Faiman-Silva said her group has been distributing information about immigrant rights—known as red cards—to local businesses, schools, faith communities, English language classes, and more. “These are cards that immigrants are urged to carry,” she said.

Due to state and federal funding cuts, Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands is scaling back its meal delivery program for seniors to four days a week instead of the usual five. That's according to Laura Roskos of Elder Services. She said the agency usually receives a block grant from the state, which the agency uses for the Meals-on-Wheels program. “We had expected that money to be about $1.4 million,” she said.

An immigrant who was arrested in New Bedford and then held in New Hampshire for the past month has been released from custody on bail. Juan Francisco Méndez’s case gained national attention when a video of the arrest circulated online. The video shows a federal agent smashing Méndez’s car window to arrest him. Thirty-one days later, Méndez was released from Strafford County Corrections in New Hampshire.
