"Whose voice is that on the the walk sign at Douglass Loop and Bardstown Road? I go through that area quite a bit, and at some point I noticed that there was a voice, and that the voice didn't sound like they were from Louisville." Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said this is the largest snow storm to hit Louisville in nearly 25 years. Winter Storm Blair hit Louisville and a majority of Kentucky on Sunday, and the Louisville Metro Snow Team has used more than 25 million pounds of salt to treat its 110 snow routes, Greenberg said. “The city is in much better shape than it was 24 hours ago,” he said Tuesday afternoon. Greenberg said there is still a lot of work to be done.

Louisville Metro Police reported its first homicide of the year on Saturday. By Monday, two more people had been killed and four others — including a police officer — were injured following a string of shootings and a stabbing death in Louisville and Southern Indiana. The first shooting happened on Friday morning. In Orange County, Indiana, Deputy Sheriff Zac Andry approached a car partially sitting in an intersection Friday, according to Indiana State Police.

Over the summer, two eastern golden eagles, Athena and Hermes, flew through the Hudson Bay in central Canada. The two raptors traveled 800 miles apart from each other before embarking on their fall migration route. According to new tracking data, Athena has returned to Bernheim, and conservation director Andrew Berry said she’s likely to stay until early March. He said visitors should be able to see Athena and other eagles flying around Bernheim during the winter.

Louisville resident Keleese Toney, 17, celebrated the opening of her dance studio called “Dynamik Dancez” in Shively last month. She fought back tears when she cut the ribbon at her studio, surrounded by friends, family and fellow dancers. The city declared Nov. 15 Dynamik Dancez Day in honor of Toney’s achievements. “It really just felt like some sort of new beginning to my life,” Toney said. She said her dance studio helped her pursue her lifelong dream: becoming a young entrepreneur.
