The High Court in Thika has deferred the plea-taking for Salome Wanjiru, accused of stabbing her boyfriend 27 times. Wanjiru is accused of stabbing Conrad Nyabuto, whose body was found in his rented room in Gatong'ora, Ruiru, on December 17, 2024. On Thursday, she was arraigned before Senior Resident Magistrate Fredrick Koome with bandages on her hand. Wanjiru’s lawyer Geoffrey Omenke, prayed for re-admission to hospital after she allegedly suffered constant pain while in custody.

For the last 17 years, Daniel Wanyeki has celebrated his Christmas behind bars at Kamiti Maximum Prison. But this year, he will celebrate with other members of his family following his release on December 4. The Thika Law Courts, where he was convicted of defilement in 2007 and sentenced to imprisonment, including subsequent life imprisonment, granted him his long-awaited freedom on Wednesday after nearly two decades behind bars.

An intern doctor at the Thika Level 5 Hospital died by suicide on Monday, the second such tragedy in two months, amid nationwide protests by healthcare workers over poor pay and working conditions. Dr Francis Njuki Gachimo was found dead in his house in Kiganjo Estate in Thika, Kiambu County. According to the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentist Union (KMPDU), the 29-year-old pharmacist had worked without pay since August.
