Six days a week, Locust Valley High School senior Orlando Watson is on the water in Bayville continuing his rowing pursuits. It’s something he’s done for two years, and it has led to a scholarship at the prestigious Dartmouth College. Though it’s been a relatively quick road for the 18-year-old native of England, it has not always been as smooth as the bay water he treads so often.

On Sunday, June 2, the City of Glen Cove is hosting a North Shore and Glen Cove’s Pride Stride. Taking steps to show unified community pride, the first-ever North Shore & Glen Cove Pride Stride, connected by Love Your Neighbor Project, brings neighbors together to show all are welcome here. At 11 a.m., the rainbow flag will be raised at Sea Cliff Beach. From there, participants will walk to the Glen Cove Village Square for a pride program at 12 noon. The event is free for anyone to participate.

For the Glen Cove Rotary’s Annual Day Of Service, they hosted a Mental Health/ Narcan training in the City Hall Chamber. John Javis, the Director of the Charles Evans Center, gave the audience a very informative lecture. The center is a one-stop agency providing the following services: primary medical care, telehealth/telemedicine, women’s health, neurological care, dental services, psychological and psychiatric services, mental and behavioral health, podiatry, addiction treatment.
