Phillipsburg is unlikely to see more cannabis businesses until a second retail space, proposed for near Union Square, meets new criteria. The town receives quite a few inquiries from people interested in opening retail spaces “every month,” said Mayor Randy Piazza. Interest was piqued when New Jersey legalized marijuana sales in 2022. The Apothecarium, a California-based cannabis company, was among the first licensed medical dispensaries permitted to offer recreational sales in the state.

Wheelmen in Warren County are invited to race at their own pace during the Allamuchy Time Trial on Saturday. A time trial is a form of bicycle racing where riders compete for the best time of the day. All riders of all skill levels are encouraged to join the race. The Bridge over Branch Lopatcong Creek on Route 57 is scheduled to be repaired in 2027. The bridge and culvert on the state road was determined to be “structurally deficient and functionally obsolete,” according to a description by the New Jersey Department of Transportation. It was constructed in 1921. The township estimates repairs could take up to a year to complete. The project intersects with Greenwich Township and Lopatcong Township.

A public hearing to review the findings of a water infrastructure study conducted on behalf of Phillipsburg next week is canceled. The public hearing will be adjourned to a later date until further notice, the town’s website says. The meeting was scheduled for April 23. Council President Peter Marino said the town is waiting to learn more on a contractual question it posed to the agency.
