    A dispute over available parking in Phillipsburg is spiraling out of control, neighbors say. “It’s hard to feel like we aren’t being retaliated against,” said Diane Turner, 80, of Prospect Street. Earlier this month, she requested a formal intervention between the Phillipsburg Emergency Squad 94, located at 360 Prospect St., and herself in May. The town is in the process of deciding whether to expand exclusive street parking rights to the emergency squad.

    Dozens of employees for Rite Aid Pharmacy stores in Warren County were notified that they would be laid off in the coming weeks. A spokesperson for the retail chain did not respond to requests for more information. Three stores in Warren County will close by June 2025, employees said. More than 1,200 retail lease and fee-owned properties are included in the sale. Sixteen states are being impacted.

    Common Sense for Animals needs millions of additional dollars to complete construction of a rescue shelter and veterinary hospital in Warren County. The Franklin Township rescue has the steel frame up but inflation has caused construction costs to more than double, leaving the no-kill shelter in desperate need of funds, the owners said. The building was proposed in 2020 as a two-story structure, roughly 12,000 square foot in area, with ample room for parking and a shed.

    Another administrative order will be drafted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and placed at the desks of Phillipsburg officials this year. Between 2025 and 2032 as much as $14.5 million must be spent on improving the town’s aged-out sewer infrastructure, according to the federal agency. Some projects have already started:Permits are already being reviewed and issued for the development of a Riverside Way Pump Station. The design calls for raising the building two feet.
