OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Comedian and commentator W. Kamau Bell made a special visit to Castlemont High School in Oakland on Thursday, fresh off his Celebrity Jeopardy win. Bell announced DonorsChoose as the recipient of the $1 million prize to the charity of his choice. It is a fundraising platform similar to GoFundMe that many teachers use to purchase stuff for their classrooms. Many teachers in Oakland use the platform.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Move over pickleball. Another racket sport is gaining popularity around the world: padel. "It's new. It's fun. It's competitive," padel enthusiast Christina Minju said. Minju is a regular at Park Padel in South San Francisco. "People in the league say pickleball is a hobby, padel is a sport," Minju said. Padel, which combines elements of squash and tennis, is played in courts about a third smaller than tennis and surrounded by clear walls.

It's right down the street from the original location near Polk and Clay Streets. "We're so excited for the new Bob's Donuts," San Francisco resident Nancy Louie said. SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco is one step closer to automatically sending drivers speeding tickets. Speed safety cameras are being installed at 33 intersections around the city and are expected to be turned on in March. One is already installed is at the intersection of Geary Boulevard and 7th Avenue in the Richmond District. That's where members of Walk San Francisco gathered Wednesday morning to celebrate the cameras.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Crossing guard Joel Kamisher is worried his job could be on the chopping block as SFMTA tries to figure out how to tackle a $50 million budget deficit for the next fiscal year. "I think it's very short sighted because I think we actually save the city money by preventing accidents," Kamisher siad. This also concerns Fiona Tran, who often walks her nieces to school in the city.
