Together Place is a peer run recovery center in Bangor that provides mental health and substance use recovery resources to roughly 200 to 300 people each month.

AUGUSTA -- This November, voters can expect to see a referendum that, if passed, would require Mainers to present a valid state ID or driver's license to vote or to request an absentee ballot. Those who are opposed to this referendum say it is an act of voter suppression. The Save Maine Absentee Voting Coalition held a Defend our Voting Rights Rally in Augusta on Saturday. According to organizers roughly 60 people turned out to protest the referendum.

CALAIS -- Last week, a more than 40 year old cold case of a slain teenager from Calais was revived after a suspect was taken into custody. Many are calling this arrest a major victory for the case, including a former Calais based reporter who spent years searching for answers. The murder of Calais teen Linda Maxwell in 1984 has had a lasting impact on the community. "The town was just devastated, everybody was," said local Heather Henry-Tenan.

OLD TOWN -- Penobscot Nation citizens and environmental activists are voicing their fierce opposition to the proposed expansion of the Juniper Ridge Landfill in Old Town. Dozens gathered for a protest along the Penobscot River on Sunday. Last October, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection approved a proposal for Casella Waste Systems to expand the landfill they operate in Old Town. That decision has upset many residents and Penobscot Nation citizens.
