(AP) — Denied a spot in Paris because the Dutch Olympic committee didn't think she was good enough to contend, Dewi Weber shot a 10-under 62 on Friday to take the second-round lead in the Portland Classic. Weber qualified for the Olympics under International Golf Federation standards, but was left out because of the country's separate standards for all sports to meet a realistic chance of a top-eight finish.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Grace Kim broke away late Saturday afternoon at Blythefield Country Club, birdieing four of the final six holes to take a five-stroke lead into the final round of the Meijer LPGA Classic. Tied for the second-round lead with Ally Ewing, Kim shot a 6-under 66 to get to 17-under 199. The 23-year-old Australian won in a playoff last year in Hawaii for her lone LPGA Tour title. She lost a large lead in April in Los Angeles in the JM Eagle LA Championship.

Eleven-time LPGA Tour winner Lexi Thompson is now contending for her first LPGA Tour title since 2019 after firing a brilliant 7-under 65 in the third round of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give at Blythefield Country Club. (AP) — Nelly Korda missed her second straight cut after winning six of seven events, rallying Friday but falling a stroke short of advancing to weekend play in the Meijer LPGA Classic. The top-ranked Korda followed an opening 4-over 76 in windy conditions Thursday with a 67 to get to 1 under at Blythefield Country Club, where she won in 2021 at a tournament-record 25 under. “Didn’t play too bad,” Korda said.

Three-time LPGA Tour winner Ally Ewing attacked Blythefield Country Club on Friday at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, blitzing the field with a bogey-free, 9-under 63 in the second round, the lowest score of the week so far in Michigan. The Mississippi native shot out of the gate, quickly collecting a pair of birdies on holes one and two to move to 4-under total for the tournament.
