Gadsden State Community College has established a scholarship to honor longtime employee Kathy Brown, who died on Feb. 3, 2025. The $500 Kathy Brown Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a GSCC student majoring in office administration. Brown, who attended GSCC from 1995 to 1997, worked in the school’s public relations and marketing department from 1998 until her retirement in August 2024. Donations to the scholarship fund can be made through the GSCC Cardinal Foundation.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- When ABC13 walked into the gym at Lamar High School, Cole Mansour was tucked down in an athletic stance, ready to grab the red plastic cup before his opponent. "I love a good challenge," he told ABC13. "I like being able to try new things. Step outside of my comfort zone."Mansour won two out of three before we talked about some of his remarkable achievements. Mansour is on track to graduate 12th in his class of nearly 800 students at Lamar HS. He also scored 1510 on his SAT.

Gadsden City High School received recognition for increasing female participation in AP Computer Science Principles. The school was one of 847 to achieve this recognition by having at least 50% female enrollment or exam participation in line with the school's demographics. The College Board's AP Computer Science program has seen a 161% increase in participation since 2017, expanding opportunities for students in STEM fields.
