BLUEFIELD – Portable stop lights have been erected on Princeton Avenue near downtown Bluefield after a new sinkhole appeared near the site of a previous sinkhole which has been repaired. A work crew with the West Virginia Department of Highways installed the last parts of the red light stops Wednesday morning near Goins Gas & Produce LLC at 2320 Princeton Avenue. The new sinkhole, which is situated near the guardrails, is close to one which opened up in September 2018 after heavy rainstorms.

BLUEFIELD – A $7,600 grant from the Community Foundation of the Virginias is allowing City of Bluefield employees to do their animal control duties in ways that are safer for both them and animals. "Yes. They were kind enough to give us funding to get more materials for our animal control," Code Official Mika Bargo said Wednesday. PRINCETON – First-degree murder, gross child neglect, possession of child pornography and first-degree robbery are among the multiple felony indictments handed down by the June 2025 Mercer County Grand Jury. The June 2025 Mercer County Grand Jury issued 51 indictments, according to the criminal docket from the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Docket Day will be June 23 starting at 9:30 a.m., according to the Mercer County Circuit Clerk’s Office.
