Dec. 6—The newest state audit of the Connecticut Port Authority, once again critical of the quasi-public agency, recommends tightening internal controls to ensure it is following its own policies. The audit report, released on Thursday by the Connecticut Auditors of Public Accounts, covers the fiscal years that ended June 30, 2022 and 2023. It cites instances of noncompliance with purchasing and procurement policies and some issues with expenditures that were not properly documented.

Dec. 5—A man serving a 65-year prison sentence for murder in the brutal stabbing death of a 63-year-old New London man is asking the state Supreme Court to overturn his conviction. Christopher Petteway claims in his appeal to the state's highest court that, among other things, the trial court wrongly denied his attempt to represent himself at trial.
