The “we” not only refers to the Varsity Aces as we select our weekly North Jersey Top 25, but also the local baseball community as a whole. Teams that began 2025 in the top five generally performed as expected. Jason AmalbertDePaul junior infielder/pitcherAmalbert may be Passaic County’s most versatile player and he helps make the Spartans the favorite to win the county championship. Last season, he earned first-team All-North Jersey after batting .425 with seven home runs, 44 runs, 32 RBI and 22 steals. The right-hander also was 3-1 with 31 strikeouts in 26⅔ innings.
