Borrelli is one of a half-dozen seniors who have helped the Paramus baseball team rebound from a midseason seven-game losing streak to reach the North 1, Group 3 sectional quarterfinals. The Spartans’ Class of 2025 was in fifth grade seven years ago when classmates from East Brook Middle School were involved in the May 17, 2018 bus crash on Route 80.

    DEMAREST — Don Bosco hit softly and carried home a big title. The top-seeded Ironmen captured their 10th Bergen County baseball championship with a 5-1 victory over No. 2 Pascack Valley on Saturday at Northern Valley/Demarest. Nine of Don Bosco’s 10 hits were singles, and only half of those made it out of the infield. Yet, that was enough to help manufacture two first-inning runs that ace left-hander Anthony Costello (7-0) made stand up with five innings of two-hit ball.

    WAYNE — When DePaul and Passaic Tech met in the opening game of the 2025 baseball season, there was a bit of friendly banter tossed around. “Hey, this could be a preview of the Passaic County final.”Banter became a reality on Saturday, when the top two seeds in the Passaic tournament secured their spots in the title game. No. 1 DePaul blanked No. 5 West Milford in five innings, 13-0, and No. 2 Passaic Tech handled No. 3 Passaic Valley, 11-3.

    Chris Kim grew up as a Dodgers fan but admits he was rooting for the Cubs in 2016, when they ended a 108-year World Series title drought. The junior began his varsity baseball career at Bergen Catholic, but his transfer to Fort Lee this year made him an active participant in ending a similar drought. Kim went 4 for 4 and drove in four runs during an April 28 victory over Dumont. That secured the Bridgemen at least a share of their first league championship in nearly 70 years.
