    Patients with SLE are at risk of adverse drug events (ADEs), polypharmacy and medication non-adherence. In this cohort, 40% of SLE hospitalisations were medication related: 29% were associated with one or more ADEs and 10% were flares associated with non-adherence. Half of ADEs were preventable or ameliorable. This study highlights a high burden of medication-related harm in SLE and identifies subgroups who could benefit from preventative interventions.

    The use by China critics of a tennis player’s broken relationship with a senior party official to paint the regime in Beijing as evil is absurd. China bashing has just got a lot easier. Now you do not have to go all the way to Xinjiang or Tibet to find atrocity stories. All you need do is invent stories about high officials in Beijing sexually assaulting their tennis partners. Over the years Beijing has been accused of everything from inventing water torture to organising the Vietnam War.

    The tennis player’s story was distorted by the media. But we won’t hear any apologies from the blame-China brigade. __I am not a media expert, but from the beginning it was clear (as I wrote on this site) that Western media were up to their usual China-bashing distortions with their claims that the Chinese champion tennis player Peng Shuai was forced to disappear after allegedly revealing she had been sexually assaulted by a top Chinese official.
