(RNS) — On Feb. 8, the diocesan council of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas officially welcomed Resurrection South Austin, a church planted by the Anglican Church in North America, which itself was formed when some 700 dissident parishes broke away from the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada in 2009 over disagreements about marriage for same-sex couples and the ordination of women.

The church contributed $500,000 and will also be providing volunteer labor. This project, on a site located near the Arnold Arboretum, will be rehabbing two existing units and constructing two new ones.

Haven Religious is an emerging religious community in Hartford, Connecticut that hopes to provide active service to the church and the city. There are three members: the Rev. Marta Rivera Monclova, Gregory Simmons, and Sean Glenn. Rivera Monclova and Simmons are novices in the Order of the Body of Christ, a traditional vowed religious community that exists within Haven. Rivera Monclova is the leader.

She and her skating partner, Simon Mintz of Lexington, earned their spot at the championship by placing in the top five at the U.S. Ice Dance final in Texas in November. This is Huang’s first time at the championships.
