    The St. Ambrose University Dance team missed winning its third national championship in a row by an extremely narrow margin, but the dancers couldn't be prouder of their national runner-up status. On March 29 the Bees placed second to Midland University in the 2025 Nfinity NAIA Competitive Dance National Championship. The Midland Warriors ended the competition with a score of 92.24, just barely topping the Bees, whose overall score was 92.08.

    Cammie Pohl wasn't born with a silver spoon, but she's trying to prove she owns the most. This month, the owner of the Mississippi Spoon Gallery in Davenport, Iowa, will hold an official counting party as she attempts to stamp her name in the Guinness Book of World Records for the world's largest spoon collection. The current world record for the largest spoon collection was set in 1990 by Des Warren of Mayfield, Australia who is credited with owning 30,000 teaspoons.

    The St. Ambrose University Cheer team has a new red banner to hang after becoming the 2025 NAIA Competitive Cheer National Champions for the third year in a row. If that wasn't impressive enough, the Bees broke a school record with their overall score of 97.95, beating their own record of 97.27 set last year. And, 12 Bees were named to the All-American Team following their big win.

    A large posterboard sat on an easel in the front of a room at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island on Thursday morning. It showed a picture of a woman standing behind three boys. The woman is Breona Dunbar-Guthrie. The children are her three sons. Breona died in November 2022 after a tragic accident that resulted in her becoming an organ donor. Breona was honored by her family and friends in a ceremony at Trinity to honor her gift during National Donate Life Month.

    Last call is approaching quickly for two downtown Davenport businesses known for their drinks. Monday, Chef Rhea Vrana behind the restaurant Cavort at 229 Brady Street announced the restaurant's time was up. "Cavort Libations & Bites has had a wonderful five years in downtown Davenport, but ultimately too many changes have led us to our decision to close," she wrote in a post on the restaurant's Facebook page.
