DURAHM, NC (NEWS10) — Ballston Spa graduate Ana Gold has blossomed into one of the best softball players in the country at Duke, hitting more homeruns than anyone in program history at 51 and counting. The list of accomplishments for Gold is long, and you can now add trailblazer to her resume. Gold was awarded a golden ticket to be drafted in the first season of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League, a new pro women’s softball league launching this year.

LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Shaker boys basketball did something this season no team in program history had done before: win a state championship. The school celebrated the team on Tuesday night, one month after their historic victory over Port Washington. The Blue Bison were welcomed to their gym by family, friends, school staff, and local leaders. Not only were there a bunch of speakers that honored the team, the team’s championship rings and championship banner were unveiled.

TROY, NY (NEWS10) — A new era of RPI hockey began on Monday. Eric Lang was officially introduced as RPI’s new men’s hockey coach. Lang comes to RPI after spending nine years as the head coach of his alma mater, American International. RPI is looking for a jump start after four straight losing seasons, leading to the firing of Dave Smith. Lang has experience turning around a program.
