AbstractThis study evaluated the effects of adding Sophora flavescens ethanol extract to high soybean meal feed (soybean meal replaced 50% fish meal protein) on growth, antioxidant status, and immune response in pearl gentian grouper. The fish (72.5 ± 0.5 g) were randomly divided into three groups: the fish meal group (the FM group), the soybean meal group (the SBM group), and the SBM + 0.2% S. flavescens ethanol extract group (the SBMSF group).

Chicken meal, shrimp meal, blood meal, and soybean protein concentrate (SPC) are common alternatives to fishmeal. This study used them to prepare three diets with different levels of fishmeal (FM48, FM40, FM32) for largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides). The results found no significant difference in the growth performance of largemouth bass fed different diets.

In our study, we focused on cultivable seedlings of the lychee (Litchi chinensis) cultivar ‘Xianjinfeng’. The seeds of the cultivar ‘Xianjinfeng’ were provided by the South Subtropical Crops Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province, China). These seeds were sown in a controlled environment, which involved growing the seedlings in a greenhouse with meticulously regulated conditions to ensure optimal germination and growth.

AbstractAmmonia nitrogen is a common environmental factor in aquaculture systems. High levels of ammonia nitrogen threaten the health of shrimp. This study aimed to investigate ammonia nitrogen stress in the hepatopancreas of Penaeus vannamei by integrating physiological, metabolome, and transcriptome analysis. The study revealed that exposure to ammonia nitrogen resulted in injury to the hepatopancreas, deformation disorder of the lumen, blurred boundaries, and increased vacuoles.

AbstractHigh-affinity potassium transporters (HKTs) are crucial in facilitating potassium uptake by plants. Many types of HKTs confer salt tolerance to plants through regulating K+ and Na+ homeostasis under salinity stress. However, their specific functions in cassava (Manihot esculenta) remain unclear. Herein, an HKT gene (MeHKT1) was cloned from cassava, and its expression is triggered by exposure to salt stress.

Abstractβ-Glucans are immunostimulants and are widely used in aquaculture industry. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of different periods of β-glucan management on growth performance, intestinal health, and disease resistance in pearl gentian grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus♂ × Epinephelus fuscoguttatus♀). A commercial feed was used as control diet (CD), and the β-glucan diet (βD) was based on CD and further supplemented with 0.1% β-glucan.
