NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An area of low pressure in the Atlantic has a medium chance for tropical development over the next 48 hours. The chances have decreased from the National Hurricane Center as the system has yet to come together on Monday. The area was outlined with a high chance for development in the morning hours. On Monday afternoon, the low-pressure system’s center was exposed on the low levels, indicating strong wind shear and limiting development.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It is a hot start to the weekend. A Heat Advisory is in effect with feels-like temperatures up to 110 degrees possible this afternoon. Ensure you have access to ways to cool off and stay hydrated. A few spotty downpours and storms are possible, but coverage will only be around 30 percent of the area. On Sunday, we could see a few more storms helping to keep the heat down. It will still feel like triple-digits, but we may be able to stay below Heat Advisory criteria for many.
