Hannah Ramirez, ’24-25 Opinion Editor Hannah Ramirez (she/they) is a Journalism major and transfer student from Southwestern college in Chula Vista, California. A love of comic books since a young age pointed her into the direction of storytelling. These days she focuses on telling stories of local artists and working on hot takes for the opinion page. Lines surrounding the Love Library’s voting center were hard to miss throughout the day Categories: Amidst recovery from midterms and the demand of day-to-day schedules, Election Day still loomed over San Diego State University’s campus. The constant lines wrapping around Love Library’s voting center towards the main walkway onto Hepner Hall were hard to miss. At the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center on the opposite end of campus, students also made the pilgrimage to vote.

Carlsbad Becomes First City in San Diego County to Require Smoke-Free Multi-Family Housing

Carlsbad is now the first city in San Diego County to adopt a smoke-free multi-family housing ordinance after a 4-1 vote by their City Council on Tuesday night. The ordinance affects all properties with at least three or more units and prohibits any type of smoking, including vaping. The intent is to protect vulnerable residents — infants, children, pregnant women and elderly adults — from second-hand smoke. Exposure to second-hand smoke reportedly contributes to each year in the United States.
