CHEYENNE — Wyoming lawmakers voted Tuesday to draft a bill that abolishes the state’s property tax system. During a meeting of the Legislature’s Joint Revenue Committee in Gillette, the proposal was introduced by Sen. Bob Ide, R-Casper, who said it’s time for lawmakers to start over from scratch.

CHEYENNE — Wyoming lawmakers on the Joint Revenue Committee moved Wednesday to statutorily define “residential property” as its own property tax class and give it the lowest assessed tax rate of 8.3%. Despite a couple of attempts during this year’s legislative session, lawmakers have yet to statutorily define the newly created residential property class approved by voters last November.

CHEYENNE ā Educators and supporters gathered in the pouring rain along Pershing Boulevard Monday evening to demand stronger support from the state of Wyoming for public school funding and teachers in the classroom. Around 30 to 40 individuals participated in a demonstration organized by the Cheyenne Teachers Education Association, wearing red T-shirts and carrying homemade poster boards. The group was a mix of current and former educators, parents and community supporters.
