Talented UOB playwrights created all of the plays for an evening of Christmassy fun.     by Hannah Stainbank, Second Year, EnglishWoman of the Hour (2023) follows Sheryl Bradshaw (Anna Kendrick), a struggling actress who appears on the show The Dating Game in the hopes it will launch her into fame. In doing so she encounters Rodney Alcala (Daniel Zovatto), one of the show’s bachelors and a real-life serial killer in the 1970s, who appeared on a dating show in the middle of his killing spree. The plot weaves in the stories of his other victims and his eventual arrest.

    It’s the biggest part of student democracy, and a chance to have your say on the issues that matter 1 second ago This Thursday (14th November), Bristol Student Union’s Student Council will be taking place in the Anson Rooms from 5-8pm. It is the main democratic forum in which students can propose and debate motions to change SU policy. The Student Council meets once per term, and all students are welcome to attend. All students have had the opportunity to submit motions ahead of the meeting.

    The figure of the male creative genius is an overrepresented one. Archetypes of tortured writers or great thinkers are all deeply linked with masculinity. But in the modern day, creative industries are dominated by women, so why is creative genius still such a masculine concept? Within the University of Bristol, during my first-year English curriculum, I have studied roughly equal numbers of works by men and women.
