    Almost a third of five-year-old children living in Exeter have tooth decay, according to new figures. The figures, published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, show the estimated proportion of five-year-olds in England in 2024 with some kind of tooth decay - specifically enamel and/or dentin decay. Dentin is the layer of the tooth that is just below the enamel. The data was compiled from a sample of five-year-old schoolchildren whose parents agreed for them to participate.

    The number of people in hospital with flu in England continues to rise, with staff reporting they are under the same pressure as at the height of the Covid pandemic, the NHS medical director has said. Data from NHS England shows there were an average of 5,408 flu patients in beds in England each day last week, including 256 in critical care. This is up 21% from 4,469 the previous week, when 211 were in critical care.
