    Northumberland-born footballer Lucy Bronze has been included in the England squad for Euro 2025. The 33-year-old Chelsea full back was named in a 23-player squad by Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman. She was a key part of the England squad that won the Euros in 2022 and lost in the 2023 World Cup final. She has 133 caps for her country. Bronze was born in Berwick and spent her early childhood on Holy Island and Belford.

Ad Gefrin Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery took gold in the best new tourism business of the year category at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.     A huge forget-me-not sand art installation was created on Beadnell beach to mark Dementia Action Week. The striking ‘Memories in the Sand’ image is being used by the Alzheimer’s Society to promote its Forget Me Not Appeal in the North East. Volunteers and people who have benefited from the charity’s support services helped draw the charity’s logo in the sand, alongside the names of loved ones affected by dementia.
