We investigate strategies for reaching the ultimate limit on the precision of frequency estimation when the number of probes used in each run of the experiment is fixed. That limit is set by the quantum Cramér-Rao bound (QCRB), which predicts that the use of maximally entangled probes enhances the estimation precision, when compared with the use of independent probes.

The magnetic phenomena on the solar surface have been the subject of several investigations over the last 400 years. The early indicator of the solar magnetic activity was the sunspot counting. Currently, the main sunspot indicators are the International Sunspot Number, the Sunspot Group Number, the Total Sunspot Area, and the Photometric Sunspot Index. Several improvements in observational techniques have allowed measuring the magnetic activity using solar/stellar spectra.

A lattice-based model for continuum percolation is applied to the case of randomly located, partially aligned sticks with unequal lengths in 2D which are allowed to cross each other. Results are obtained for the critical number of sticks per unit area at the percolation threshold in terms of the distributions over length and orientational angle and are compared with findings from computer simulations.

We explore the relations between the gas-phase metallicity radial profiles (few hundred inner parsec) and multiple galaxy properties for 15 Seyfert galaxies from the AGNIFS (Active Galactic Nuclei Integral Field Spectroscopy) sample using optical Integral Field Unit (IFU) observations from Gemini Multi-Object Spectrographs (GMOS) and Multi Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) processed archival data.

In this work we present a calculation of exotic charmonium production in ultraperipheral collisions, in which the exotic state is explicitly treated as a meson molecule. Our formalism is general, but we focus on the lightest possible exotic charmonium state: a D+D− molecular bound state. It was proposed some time ago, and it has been an object of experimental searches. Here we study the production of the open charm pair in the process γγ→D+D−.

We investigate the causality and stability of three different relativistic dissipative fluid-dynamical formulations emerging from a system of classical, ultrarelativistic scalar particles self-interacting via a quartic potential. For this particular interaction, all transport coefficients of Navier-Stokes, Bemfica-Disconzi-Noronha-Kovtun (BDNK), and second-order transient theories can be computed in analytical form.
