    The 2025 Boston Marathon generated $50.4 million in funds raised for charitable causes, according to the Boston Athletic Association. This figure beats the marathon’s single year charity program fundraising record, which previously stood at $45.7 million. The race, which took place on Monday April 21, hosted nearly 29,000 runners, roughly 10% of whom ran on charity teams that benefitted 176 nonprofits.

    Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is completing the final phases of its $250 million expansion, which adds nearly 100,000 square feet to the Jamaica Plain hospital and is expected to help alleviate capacity constraints among its sister hospitals. Faulkner, a community hospital in Jamaica Plain, has added a five-story inpatient tower, additional MRI and endoscopy capabilities and a new parking garage. The newly constructed wing adds 78 inpatient beds, growing the hospital by 45%.

    Luxury hospitality packages for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have gone on sale, and packages for access to some of the seven matches in Massachusetts start at $5,300. More extensive packages top out at $26,700. Seven games of t he 2026 World Cup tournament be played in Foxborough at the 65,878-seat Gillette Stadium, though it will be called "Boston Stadium for the duration of the tournament. All hosting venues will be stripped of their naming-rights sponsor for the tournament.

The economy is not so hot, and 2023 venture funding reflected that. But Black and Latino founders in Boston saw investments decrease more than three and four times the overall rate in Massachusetts. I'm new to covering the startup scene, and this shocked me. Read more:
