    FARGO — The call volume for Fargo’s Fire Department decreased in 2024, the second year in row the department has seen a decline. As part of its annual report, the department responded to just more than 14,000 total incidents, a decline of nearly 300 from 2023. A total of 239 nine of those calls were fires, down from 288 in 2023. The report marked Fire Chief Steve Dirksen’s final before retiring.

    WEST FARGO — Two recent measles cases in North Dakota have been linked to Essentia Health clinics in the Fargo metro area, according to North Dakota Health and Human Services. The state agency says those who were at the affected clinics may have been exposed to the virus. Essentia Health is working to protect both patients and staff in response to the potential exposure, officials said. The two new cases bring North Dakota’s total to 11 this year. Both new patients were unvaccinated.

    PERHAM — In Minnesota, the sport of hockey has 'Hockey Day Minnesota.'Baseball, now, has 'Baseball Across Minnesota,' recently started by the Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches Association. "100 percent I would have loved it as a kid," said Seth Urbach, a senior infielder for Perham. It's a weekend-long initiative with a simple goal: promoting the growth of game of baseball across the state, from the youth level to high school.

    FARGO — With Cleanup Week underway, Fargo Public Works is reminding residents items placed at the curb may be collected — whether or not they were meant to be. Crews say any items on the street side of a sidewalk are assumed to be up for disposal. That includes things such as bikes, basketball hoops or lawn equipment that homeowners may still want to keep.
