BISMARCK — A North Dakota bill that would hold vehicle owners financially responsible if their car is involved in a police chase is currently in a conference committee after the House rejected changes made by the Senate. House Bill 1229 would fine vehicle owners $100 for a first offense and $500 for any subsequent violations if their vehicle is used to flee law enforcement. The bill passed the House in a strong 81-12 vote before heading to the Senate.
