Srinagar, June 6: It took 127 years for a dream to become reality. Vande Bharat Express will finally crisscross through the mighty Pir Panjal to reach Srinagar. Maharaja Pratap Singh was the first ruler who dream of the Kashmir train in 1898. A project was sanctioned in 1905, but it could not be implemented. After independence, Jammu was connected with the rest of India, but the valley remained landlocked. Indira Gandhi started work on the difficult Chenab section (which includes Kashmir) in 1983.

Srinagar: Every eye became moist when a group of women recited a heart-wrenching elegy for a mother and her two sons who were fished out of Jhelum after a boat capsized at the Gandbal area in Srinagar. Cries and shrieks rent the air when a group of men enters a room to take the bodies for last rites. Outside the house, hundreds of people were waiting to bid the final adieu to the mother and her twins Tanvir and Muzamil Ahmad.

Srinagar: Forget `Dunki’ and `Animal’, ` The Country of Blind’, a movie by Kashmir actors and filmmakers, has received 7.4 CAT INDEX rating from a highly respected Cult Critic magazine. “A visionary tale of perception, superiority, and evolution,” wrote Cult Critic in its review. Starring Kashmir-born actor Hina Khan aka Akshara of `Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ fame and J&K-born actor Shoaib Nikash Shah of `The Last Coffee’ fame, the movie was recently in the news for its Oscar submission.
