The Bay of Quinte Men’s Soccer League held its “Early Bird” tournament this weekend and the outcome had the winner smiling. Quinte ‘You Make Me Smile’ FC came back from a 2 goal first half deficit to tie the game and then beat the Trenton Sockers in an exciting penalty shoot out.to win the BQMSL Early Bird Tourney at Zwicks park afternoonAysar Younes scored the winning penalty kick for Quinte FC and Quinte FC keeper Steve Jones made 2 PK saves.

The Wellington Dukes are turning to their past to lead them in their future. Jacob Panetta has been named coach and general manager of the Ontario Junior Hockey League Club succeeding Kent Lewis who is returning to British Columbia. Panetta is a Quinte Red Devils graduate. He played for the Dukes from 2013 to 2016 before spending four years with Colgate University. He then played professionally in the ECHL and Europe.

Jared Matthews and Michael McFarland finished in first place in power tumbling in their respective divisions in the Canadian National Championships in Calgary. Matthews is now a two time Senior Men’s champion. McFarland was in the Junior Men’s class.

The Endless Summer event including the World Long Drive championship begins on Friday at Trillium Wood Golf Club. night’s Military Night starts at 7:00 PM and pays tribute to those who serve with a full evening of entertainment and adrenaline.

Submitted photo)Last week’s Canadian Open at TPC Toronto’s Osprey Valley didn’t just attract some of the best golfers in the world. It also attracted some of the youngest. Five junior golfers from NINE Golf Academy in Belleville took part in the “Walk with a Pro program” last Wednesday. Each went on the tee at the famous “Rink Hole” # 14 and walked the hole individually with their own Tour player.
