The US Congress meets in the Capitol building, a resplendent, imposing building influenced by ancient Greek and Roman architecture. It gives the legislative seat of government a sense of sturdiness and power. Understandably, any significant shift to how the Senate or House works will feel drastic—and for good reason. So, when Vice President Kamala Harris said she thinks the Senate “should eliminate the filibuster for Roe [vs. Wade],” it raised concern.

Vice President Kamala Harris gave her first interview with the press in a pre-recorded sit-down with CNN’s Dana Bash last night. She was joined by her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and, predictably, opinions range on how they did. The general consensus, however, is that the interview went reasonably well. Harris mostly addressed the economy, energy plans—including several questions about her current and past stances on fracking—the border, and Israel.

Last month, a Toxicology Sciencesstudy found microplastics in human and dog testis. The presence of microplastics there could have “potential consequences on male fertility.” Microplastics are tiny particles of plastic. Anything less than 5mm is considered a microplastic, but particles can get as small as one nanometer.

The Supreme Court of Alabama ruled this week that the state’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act applies to frozen embryos. This decision classifies embryos created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) as “unborn children” and thus human lives, including those who were created in laboratories and then frozen. In response, a large Alabama hospital paused IVF treatments yesterday as health care providers weigh the impact of the ruling.
