LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Thankfully after a a long and stormy week last week, we are seeing more sunshine and quiet weather moving in!We’re off to a cool and refreshing start on this Monday and will continue to see the lower humidity and pleasant temperatures through the afternoon. Temperatures will slowly climb through the day as we see a mixture of sun and clouds, which will help to push us into the upper 70s to near 80.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Thankfully a much needed break is in store for our Thursday as showers and storms remain isolated at best throughout the day. We can focus on more sunshine and a warmer afternoon as temperatures are climbing back into the lower and middle 80s. Unfortunately, this won’t last into Friday and the weekend as an area of low pressure is drifting to the north over the next few days.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Some of the heavier rain is slowly pushing east early this morning, but we will have to watch the potential for redevelopment closer to sunrise. Any additional heavy rain will pose the risk for localized flooding and will be something we have to watch closely as we move over the next few hours. Clouds will continue to stick around for everyone, but the greater risk for any heavy rain and storms looks to be along and south of I-10 mostly.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - 10:45 PM UPDATE: A few strong storms will remain possible especially along and south of I-10 into the overnight hours. There are numerous thunderstorms still occurring over portions of SWLA, and these could still produce gusty winds and small hail. The greater concern now is likely the flooding risk, especially in Allen, Beauregard, and Vernon parishes where a large band of rain is stalled. We have already received reports of flooding, and that may get worse overnight.
