ANN ARBOR, MI – The nation’s largest collection of flowering peony plants is nearing peak bloom at Ann Arbor’s Nichols Arboretum. The University of Michigan’s W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden holds more than 800 distinct peonies. It began in 1922 when alumnus W.E. Upjohn, founder of Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company, donated a large collection including several plants from his own garden.

YPSILANTI, MI – A halal burger joint that also serves up delicious shawarma, wraps and wings has been feeding downtown Ypsilanti for over a decade. Got Burger! opened in early 2014 in what was once Domino’s Pizza’s first-ever store. Serving over the counter, the restaurant features seating for about 20 people, though manager Haroun Mohammed says late nights can see a line stretch out the door.

JACKSON COUNTY – Graduates from the county’s three largest high schools added a personal touch as they walked across the stage to accept their diplomas on Thursday and Friday nights. Like thousands of others before them, seniors at Northwest High School, Western High School and Jackson High decorated their mortarboard caps. The graduates honored friends and family members, made pop culture references, showed off their plans for the future and more.

HOWELL, MI – An award-winning Howell restaurant has been serving families and customers from across the state for more than four decades. Tomato Brothers, located at 3030 W. Grand River Ave., opened in 1981. It was recently recognized as one of USA Today’s 2025 Restaurants of the Year. The restaurant, just off I-96 between Detroit and Lansing, was originally named after Gus Nicholas, the uncle of current general managers Tom Nevells and Zach Nicholas.

JACKSON COUNTY – 211 students walked across the stage at Northwest High School Thursday night to accept their diplomas and be celebrated as high school graduates. The ceremony, which was held indoors due to cold weather, saw a packed gymnasium cheer on the graduates as their accomplishments were recognized. Principal Scott Buchler addressed the class briefly, before handing the mic off to Student Council President Madison Dixon and her cousin, Vice President Blaine Anspaugh.
