This column is the first I’ve written since I began at the Times nearly three years ago and as this is my final issue as a staff member, it will likely also be my last. That might seem ironic, but I’ve realized I’m much better at communicating visually than with the written word. It’s one of many things I’ve discovered about myself during my time with this profoundly special paper.

Each evening for the last 12 months, the smell of fresh popcorn has once again wafted from the front doors of Crested Butte’s Majestic Theatre. Following a year of packed blockbuster screenings that included “Oppenheimer,” “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” and countless others, the newly-formed nonprofit movie theater looked back at a hard-earned year of success.
