Grand jury indicts Phoenix Ikner on murder, attempted murder charges

Phoenix Ikner, the suspected gunman in the FSU shooting, has been indicted by a grand jury on nine counts. The five-page indictment filed Wednesday includes two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted first degree murder with a firearm. Police say Ikner killed two people and injured several others in April on campus last month. Ikner found out during his first appearance on Tuesday he would not be released from jail.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — The suspected FSU shooting suspect Phoenix Ikner, has been denied bond. Twenty-year-old Ikner is charged with two counts of first degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder. Court records show on April 17 at 11:58 a.m., the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received multiple calls reporting an active shooter at FSU between the Student Union and Moore Auditorium. Officers say they encountered the suspect in a shooting stance outside the Student Union.
Appellate court denies Adelson's petition to remove judge

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Donna Adelson petitioned the First District Court of Appeal for a writ of prohibition to prevent the trial judge from presiding over her criminal trial. She claims Leon County Circuit Judge Stephen Everett engaged in improper ex parte communications by reviewing search warrant applications involving her husband's phone records and a wiretap of his cellphone. Florida's 1st DCA denied Adelson's petition on Friday.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The judge presiding over Donna Adelson's case has granted her request to delay the trial, according to an order issued Thursday. The trial was set for June 3. The court found the defendant must be afforded "an adequate opportunity to investigate and/or prepare a defense." Court documents further state the defendant has demonstrated "good cause" for the request to continue the trial.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The court will review the defense’s request for a continuance in the trial of Donna Adelson. Adelson is charged with murder, solicitation and conspiracy in the 2014 deadly shooting of Dan Markel. During a motion hearing Wednesday afternoon, the judge set a new deadline of May 16 for motions to be filed that relate to the existing charges.

Police have taken a person of interest into custody in connection to a death at a homeless camp. Around 6:08 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report about a person being found dead behind the Walmart on Apalachee Parkway. When officers got there, they say they discovered a homeless encampment in the woods, where a man had been shot. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Tallahassee police are looking for the person who fired shots near Bond Community Health Clinic. Police say the call came in at 11:56 a.m. about a man walking on South Gadsden Street near Lewis Street with a gun. Bond Community Health Clinic went on lockdown as a precaution. Police say they investigated the area and gathered shell casings. They say no one was hurt, but they're still looking for the suspected gunman.

MONTICELLO, FL — An arrest has been made in 2024 Monticello murder. According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Roberto Luis Rodrigues is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. On April 13, 2024, the Monticello Police Department requested the FDLE to help with a death investigation. The police department found Lance Nealy Sr. dead with gunshot wounds.
