Gaslighting is a form of manipulation which attempts to sow doubt and confusion by inverting reality on its head, and a recent column in The Hill Times was a textbook example of this. In their August 5 column entitled: “Will Canada apply its immigration policy fairly in the face of the Gaza conflict?,” Washim Ahmed and Taha Ghayyur demanded that Canadian laws be “consistently applied” to ensure that human rights violators and others are not admitted into Canada.

On July 31, Le Journal de Montreal published an opinion column by Normand Lester, analysing US Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent comments and ongoing track record on the Israel-Hamas war. The first article, published on July 27 entitled: “Former Palestinian detainees detail accounts of abuse and torture while in Israeli jails,” described the alleged plight of a number of Palestinian prisoner and detainees under Israeli authority.
