The BMA GP Committee and NHS England have agreed changes to the contract for the first time in four years. Here are the major headlines There will be £800m invested into the global sum. According to the BMA, the deal represents a 7.2% cash growth in contract funding. In total it’s estimated Global Sum per weighted patient will rise to £121.90. Funding for recruiting GPs via the additional roles reimbursement scheme (ARRS) will no longer be ringfenced while salaries will see a boost.

Two long-standing LMC leaders were posthumously honoured for their services to the profession at the inaugural Londonwide LMCs awards held in Parliament yesterday. Professor Mark Ashworth won the LMC Member Award for South West London for ‘demonstrating outstanding commitment to safe sustainable care and the future of general practice’, with his widow picking the award on his behalf. Tributes were also paid to Dr Adam Jenkins, a former chair of the Londonwide LMCs, who passed away last year.
