Carmel is “Built for Big Dreams” — at least according to the city’s new tagline. The affluent Hamilton County community spent $125,000 to collect feedback and generate a new tagline, logo and comprehensive strategic plan, fulfilling a campaign promise from Mayor Sue Finkam. “I've been testing (the new tagline) in speeches and comments, and it resonates very well with people,” Finkam said.

A seafood restaurant, with three locations already open throughout Central Indiana, is expanding to Carmel. Slapfish will open a new, 3,300 square foot restaurant with an enclosed patio at the Market District grocery store, off North Illinois Street. The restaurant will open later this year. Restaurateurs Mark and Lauren Weghorst plan to start renovating the space this summer, according to a news release.

New homes along the Monon Trail in Westfield are being designed with trail users in mind. “We’re thinking about views from the Monon Trail,” said Jake Dietrich, vice president of acquisition and development with Onyx+East. “(Trail users will see) homes with four-sided architecture and highly designed outdoor spaces.

Pedcor Companies and the city of Carmel are working together to add 60 new guest rooms, a new boardroom and a new ballroom to the hotel. The two entities worked together to build the $58 million hotel, which opened in 2020. This time around, Pedcor is taking on all of the expenses. No new city dollars will be used to expand the hotel, according to the city.
