In a news release issued on Wednesday, June 4, city officials said Miller's appointment as EMS chief "has been withdrawn.""This decision has been made in the best interest of the department and the community it serves," the release said. Miller, 35, of Eaton, had been placed on administrative leave after his arrest on May 27.

    MUNCIE, IN — The Delaware County coroner's office has asked for the public’s help in finding family members of a Muncie man who died recently. Chief Deputy Coroner Gary Vannatta is looking for survivors of Byron Gene Hawkins, 64, who was found deceased at his home in the 4000 block of North Everett Road on May 17. The chief deputy coroner said efforts to find family members of Hawkins have been unsuccessful.

    MUNCIE, IN — A Delaware Circuit Court 4 jury has found a local man guilty of two counts of possession of child pornography. Neil B. Cook, 58, listed in court documents at addresses in Albany and Dunkirk, was charged in May 2019 with the two Level 6 felonies, both carrying up to 30 months in prison. According to court documents, Albany police were notified in September 2018 that a family member had found nude images of children on Cook's cell phone.

    NEW CASTLE, IN — A young New Castle man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder. The sentence 19-year-old Nicholas Watson Scott Ramsey received May 29 from Henry Circuit Court 1 Judge Bob Witham had been specified in the terms of a plea agreement. Ramsey was arrested in May 2024 after a person was stabbed — and seriously injured — at a home in the 1900 block of Lincoln Avenue.
