MUNCIE, IN — A storm with wind gusts that reportedly exceeded 70 mph left thousands of utility customers in and near Muncie without power. The storm — which moved through Delaware County on the late afternoon of Wednesday, June 18 — resulted in uprooted trees, downed limbs and damaged power lines. Jeff Stanley, chief deputy for the Delaware County Sheriff's Department, said he had received no reports of injuries.

MUNCIE, IN — Muncie police are investigating a local man's fatal shooting. According to Melissa Criswell, a deputy chief for the Muncie Police Department, emergency dispatchers at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, received a report of a shooting at a home in the 1700 block of East Centennial Avenue. Police and Muncie Fire Department emergency medical personnel found a 39-year-old man at that location who had been shot.

Two young children were found walking alone, over two miles from their Muncie home, early Tuesday morning. The children, ages 3 and 8, were found wet, shoeless, and without pants. MUNCIE, IN — A Muncie man was arrested on suspicion of neglect after two of his children, ages 8 and 3, were found walking along Country Club Road — more than two miles from their home — during the pre-dawn hours.
