    SAULT STE. MARIE- Lake Superior State basketball coach Steve Hettinga will be sticking around the Soo for the next decade. The school announced Wednesday that they’ve signed him to a ten-year deal through 2035. Hettinga is the longest tenured and winningest coach in program history. He guided the Lakers to the Elite 8 of the Division 2 NCAA Tournament, the first in program history. He’s also captured six GLIAC championships during his time with the Lakers so far.

    LAKE SUPERIOR STATE- The Lake Superior State men’s basketball team continues to make serious noise in the NCAA Division 2 tournament. Despite losing to Northern Michigan University by 16 points in the GLIAC Championship game, the Lakers found a way to put that loss behind them and play some of their best basketball in the tournament. They’ve not advanced to the Elite 8 for the first time in program history. Coach Steve Hettinga is in his 18th season as head coach and has his guys ready.

    ST IGNACE- Top ranked in Division 4 St. Ignace hosted Indian River Inland Lakes Wednesday. The Saints controlled this one early and would go on to get the win 80-39 and advance to play Ewen-Trout Creek next Tuesday at Gladstone. Inland Lakes finishes the year 21-5.

    SAULT STE. MARIE- 21-2 Pickford played Brimley for the third time this year in Regionals Tuesday and got the win 72-50. They advance to play Harbor Springs Harbor Light Christian for the regional title on Thursday.
