SAN DIEGO — Cal Mitchell grew up playing his high school baseball on the diamond at Rancho Bernardo High School. The former Broncos standout had committed to play in college for the Toreros at the University of San Diego but was instead drafted at #50 overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft in 2017 and signed with the MLB team.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be representing the AFC after beating the Baltimore Ravens 17-10. Representing the NFC will be the San Francisco 49ers after they beat the Detroit Lions 34-31.

If the name sounds familiar, it's because Lawrence spent the better part of the last decade staring on football fields here in America's Finest City. Lawrence graduated from Grossmont High School back in 2013 as a two-time All-State Quarterback.

You may have noticed new angles while watching the Friars on TV this year.
