Sean Lewis was hired as the 19th head coach in history at San Diego State to lead the Aztecs football program into the future. There is always excitement in the week leading up to the Super Bowl LVIII, so we sent CBS 8's Jake Garagnani and Marcus Greaves out to Las Vegas to check out all the sights and sounds as the city hosts for the first time. The Kansas City Chiefs will be representing the AFC after beating the Baltimore Ravens 17-10. Representing the NFC will be the San Francisco 49ers after they beat the Detroit Lions 34-31.

CORONADO, Calif. — Two women at Coronado High School have taken their talents onto the gridiron and are challenging gender norms while they do it. Lindsey Balsley and Emilia Alpert are both Seniors at Coronado High, and both are on the football team. Balsley is a kicker, and Alpert is a running back and linebacker. These two play different positions and contribute to the team in myriad ways, but both share the same love for the sport. For Balsley, she was recruited by Head Coach Kurt Hines.

SAN DIEGO — Norman Powell of the Los Angeles Clippers returned to San Diego to host his 5th annual youth basketball camp for ballers ages 7-16 at Lincoln High School. The Understand the Grind Foundation was originated by Norman Powell. "The foundation was brought to life with the Powell family’s passion to effect tangible change in the communities that need it most," according to the foundations' website.
