We were all pretty blown away when we found out ahead of time that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was going to be primarily set in Australia and after getting through the game, the Australian wildlife featured in the game is well beyond what we ever could have expected. As you can see in the gameplay footage below, there’s pretty much every Aussie animal that you can think of including Kangaroos, Echidnas, Quokkas, Emus, Tasmanian Devils, Wombats and even Lyrebirds.

While it’s well and truly on the record that I didn’t like Breath of the Wild as much as Tears of the Kingdom, it’s hard to argue against its relevance in the cultural zeitgeist. Notably, expanding the audience of Zelda itself, as well as establishing the Nintendo Switch as a console to watch, it was one of the strongest launch titles that we’ve ever seen for a console generation.

Whenever there’s a new console launch, you can always expect a Street Fighter game to appear on it at some point. Not one to shy away from a shameless port, Capcom’s support for Street Fighter on Nintendo consoles has been patchy at best. While the 3DS version of Street Fighter IV did everything right, it was a one-and-done project. The Switch version of Street Fighter 2, while a novel idea, felt a bit cobbled together overall.

Following an unfortunate leak on Threads of all places in the last 24 hours, Asobo have announced the next game in the A Plague Tale series. Called Resonance: A Plague Tale, the game is a prequel taking place fifteen years before Hugo and Amicia’s odyssey through France. Instead, you’ll play as Sofia, the pirate smuggler whom Amicia and Hugo meet in A Plague Tale: Requiem.

Just before wrapping up their Xbox Games Showcase this year, Xbox revealed the next project from Double Fine. From the developer who brought us Psychonauts 2, Double Fine revealed their new game to be called Keeper. The game, being creatively led by Lee Petty, who himself was an art director on Brutal Legend, has you playing as a lighthouse. I think it’s best if you just watched the trailer:Keeper is out on July 29th 2025 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Closing out the Xbox Games Showcase this year was a sneak peek at the next game in the Call of Duty franchise. Perhaps surprisingly, the next Call of Duty game will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The game will star Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes or This Is Us if you’re my mum and reading this) as David Mason. Set to take place in 2035, the game will pit you against a “manipulative enemy who weaponises fear above everything else”.

In a dual surprise, Square Enix have announced that more Final Fantasy games would be making the jump to Xbox. While Final Fantasy XVI hits the Xbox later today, Square Enix also announced that Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade would also be hitting Xbox in 2025. Remake Intergrade includes the separate chapter, starring Yuffie, as well as the original game as it appeared on PlayStation 4.

Following an announcement that Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade would be coming to Xbox later this year, Square Enix went one step further. The Japanese publisher revealed that they would be releasing Final Fantasy XVI on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC as well. The kicker? It’s out right now. I’m not too sure what to make of this one but it looks ike it could be good but who knows. Xbox and EVR Studio revealed their first look at MUDANG: Two Hearts, previously announced as Project TH. The game has you playing as a North Korean soldier who must save a K-Pop star who can unravel the truth behind a mystery terrorist attack. The game is releasing for Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026. Other platforms have yet to be confirmed.
